Retailers across the country have started offering a $5 reward to retailers that provide a free online copy of the film “The Hunger Game: Catch Fire,” which stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence’s sister-in-law.
In a post on the Retailers Rewards Program website, retailers that have already received a copy of “The Hungry Game” from the filmmakers have been asked to send in their copy to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) by Monday, May 15 at 8:00 a.m.
The bureau will then tally up the total reward to the retailer and send it to the bureau’s U.K. office for payment, according to the post.
The film has been rated R for its “Violence, gore and violence.”
“We encourage retailers to consider the incentive value of a free download of ‘Catch Fire’ as an incentive to offer to retailers,” the BLS said in the post announcing the incentive.
“If you receive a copy through this program, please take advantage of this offer and give it a try.”BLS Director of Marketing John Ries said that the incentive was part of its “Catch” campaign, which also includes a video, to remind consumers that they should shop around for new and used products and to keep a close eye on the safety of their purchases.
“When you have a chance to get a free gift from the producers of a film that you might have missed, that’s a great incentive to make sure you don’t make the same mistake twice,” Ries wrote.
“Just don’t forget to take your copy to your local retailer, they may be offering the free download for a limited time, and this incentive is just one more way to reward your local retailers.”
